Welcome to the Barksdale Natural Resources Hunting, Fishing

and Outdoor Recreation Program

Starting today 11/27 through mid-January, the Bodcau Gate will be open 24 hours 7 days a week. This is a testing period to determine if the traffic warrants the manpower needed to operate the gate 24/7. Individuals can use this entrance as an alternative to the west gate.

Think Safety

While every effort is made to make outdoor recreation on the East Reservation as safe as possible, unsafe situations can occur unexpectedly.  Bear in mind that there is the potential for hazardous situations to arise while recreating.  Some of these situations are natural such as exposure to poison ivy or being stung by a wasp or bee.  Other situations are created by your actions such as falling from a tree stand or handling unexploded ordnance (UXO).  Many of these manmade circumstances can be mitigated by following recommended safety practices and a little common sense.  The use of a fall restraint while hunting from elevated tree stands is highly recommended.  And NEVER handle any type of unknown metal objects as they may be explosive fragments or even a complete UXO.  The Natural Resources Office encourages you to always keep safety in mind and be aware of your surroundings while on the East Reservation.
