Think Safety

While every effort is made to make outdoor recreation on the East Reservation as safe as possible, unsafe situations can occur unexpectedly.  Bear in mind that there is the potential for hazardous situations to arise while recreating.  Some of these situations are natural such as exposure to poison ivy or being stung by a wasp or bee.  Other situations are created by your actions such as falling from a tree stand or handling unexploded ordnance (UXO).  Many of these manmade circumstances can be mitigated by following recommended safety practices and a little common sense.  The use of a fall restraint while hunting from elevated tree stands is highly recommended.  And NEVER handle any type of unknown metal objects as they may be explosive fragments or even a complete UXO.  The Natural Resources Office encourages you to always keep safety in mind and be aware of your surroundings while on the East Reservation.

Office Hours:

We are typically open from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday thorugh Friday; closed from 11:30 to 12:30 for lunch.  Keep in mind that our natural resources management duties frequently take us out of the office for field work.  If you are having trouble catching us at the office, please phone ahead to make sure someone will be at the office or make an appointment.   On managed firearm hunt days, the office will be open for the duration of the hunt, but natural resources personnel may only be manning the check station.
